• The Bald Truth’s Tuesday Night Pilot Broadcast Draws Nearly 20,000 Viewers

  Close to 20,000 hair loss sufferers from around the world grabbed a chair and poured themselves a drink to join Spencer Kobren for the premiere of TBT’s Tuesday Night “Drink and Chat.” It was truly a momentous occasion, further illustrating the need for a completely objective platform, where those in need can meet to discuss everything and anything hair loss without the fear of being judged for voicing their opinions or concerns.

• Genes May Predict Treatment Efficacy For Women Suffering With Hair Loss

  A six month pilot study conducted by molecular dermatology and research innovator Hair DX, suggests that certain genetic mechanisms can help predict if the breakthrough hair loss drug Propecia (Finasteride), primary prescribed to men, could actually be effective in the treatment of female pattern hair loss in post menopausal women.

  “Results of our pilot study are very encouraging, as it appears we have found a key piece of the genetic puzzle which identifies women who can benefit from Finasteride therapy in the same way men do. Our findings suggest these women actually have a female corollary to male pattern hair loss (Androgenetic Alopecia), and that is an important finding,” says IAHRS Accepted Member Dr. Sharon Keene, Chief Medical Officer of HairDX. “Once these results are confirmed, it can usher in a new era of treatment for female Androgenetic Alopecia.”

• Woman Loses Hair After Shampooing With Pantene – Similar Complaints Found Online

  A devastated 19 year old administrative assistant says that her hair literally broke off at the roots after using Pantene Pro-V shampoo. According to Sophie Peppercorn of Perbourough, England, her hair fell out in clumps after only one application of the celebrity endorsed product, and has received very little support from Procter and Gamble, the makers of Pantene. Miss Peppercorn wept as she described to reporters what happened. “As I showered the bubbles from my hair I could feel a lot of it in my hands,” she said.

  She then went on to state, “But it was only when I patted my hair dry with a towel and looked in the mirror, that I realized the extent of the hair damage. My hairline had receded several inches where my hair had broken off at the roots. Meanwhile, the rest of my hair was so damaged and frizzy it was breaking off in handfuls. I was so devastated, I broke down in tears.”

  When Miss Peppercorn called the Pantene helpline to inform them of what had happened to her she was offered a £5(about $8USD) Pantene coupon for her troubles.

  “Incredibly, they seem to think I will want to buy another bottle,” she said.
