Dave Solazzo

Dave Solazzo, aka Professor Dave was born into a musical family in Syracuse NY–his father is Central NY’s leading jazz bassist. At the age of seven, Solazzo began his musical studies on piano and by the age of fifteen he was playing professionally, gigging with some of the finest musicians in the
country. After graduating from high school in 1991, he attended the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston on a full scholarship.

Dave has performed with jazz luminaries Chuck Mangione and The Count Basie Orchestra’s own Frank Foster. He can also be seen gigging in New York’s Blue Note and has had the privilege to play one of New York’s most notable venues, the Palladium, not to mention the Syracuse Jazz Festival.

A lifelong radio enthusiast, Dave has parlayed his passion for the medium into an additional career. He is one of the hosts of two jazz radio shows in central New York , both of which air on WAER Jazz 88 in Syracuse . His involvement with The Bald Truth radio show was a perfect fit for Dave, coupling his keen interest in radio with his obsession with stopping his own hair loss. After hearing the show more than seven years ago, Dave knew that he had to ” glom onto the Bald Truth in whatever capacity he could.” In 2001, Dave started as a call screener for the show–which was based in NYC at the time–and eventually worked his way up to an on air personality where he has remained for the past three years.

When he isn’t playing the piano or behind the microphone, Dave enjoys reading, cycling, playing tennis, and watching classic horror films.

He lives in Syracuse with his family.
