The penalties for the unauthorized practice of medicine can be quite severe, and depending on the state and the circumstances those accused of the crime can be tried on felony charges. Since this is common knowledge, why would any reasonable licensed plastic surgeon risk their reputation, their medical license or their freedom to participate in the aiding and abetting of the practice of medicine without a license?
